Station Walkthrough
Freshwater railway station is located on Kamerunga Road. It can also be accessed from Meller Street to the back. It services the Kuranda Scenic Railway between Cairns and Kuranda. There is one platform, which is on the Kamerunga Road side of the station. Also on Kamerunga Road, there is a drop off zone for people with disability and accessible carparking. Most of the parking is on Meller Street. Access to the platform is via a ramp.
Upon arrival at the Freshwater railway station, you will find several facilities for your convenience, including:
- customer seating
- drink fountain
- hearing loop
- payphone
- shelter
- ticketing office
- toilet (accessible and with baby change table).
There is also a gift shop and café at the eastern end of the station. At the other end, there is an historical cottage (Redlynch Cottage) which you can tour before or after your journey and lush green gardens. Also at the eastern end is the coach parking and a shelter for customers transitioning between transport.
There is no level access to the train itself from the platform. If you require assistance boarding, please inform our team and we will be happy to assist you. A hydraulic lift is available to board the carriage.
