Luggage check-in
Please be at the station ready to board 15 minutes before train departure time. As this station is unattended there is no luggage check-in service before boarding. The onboard team will assist when the train arrives at the station.
Accessibility and Navigation
Station access and navigation
Access to the platform is via a ramp at either the southern or northern end of the station. Customers booked to join a service at Mackay will receive a pin code and can access the platform through the customer lounge, see below for more information.
Customer lounge access
This station has a customer lounge that is only accessible via pin code access. Customers joining a service from Mackay station will be sent an SMS from QR_Travel on their travel date.
Customers with this pin code will be able to access the lounge prior to their departure and use the facilities including a waiting area, toilets, taxi phone/call button, hearing loop and train timetable information.
Station Walkthrough
Mackay railway station is located off Connors Road in the suburb of Paget, to the south of the city centre. It services passenger trains travelling northbound to Cairns and southbound to Brisbane. There is one platform, which is located on the eastern side of the track. There is carparking outside the station, including accessible spaces. Access to the platform is via a ramp or steps.
At Mackay railway station, there is customer seating, shelter and a payphone.
There is a taxi zone and drop off and pickup zone at the front of the station.
There is no level access to the train itself from the platform. If you need assistance boarding, please let our staff know at the time of booking, and we will be happy to help.
